Wayfarer

The Ray Ban Wayfarer is one of the key models from the Bausch & Lomb era. Its importance does not rest only on its later popularity, but on the break it introduced from the metal frame language that dominated the earliest Ray Ban designs. Compared with the lighter, more technical logic of the Aviator, the Wayfarer moved the brand toward an acetate frame with greater material presence, visual weight, and a clearly identifiable geometry. Within the B&L archive, it works as a family of its own: the classic Wayfarer later gave rise to variants, reinterpretations, and related readings that shaped a significant part of Ray Ban's civilian catalogue.
